L'Eglise de Viuz has an incredible setting under this massive rock formation. It was the site of a cult in the Roman period, the first church appeared in the 7th century or so, and the choir of the present church dates from the 12th century.
The acoustic, of course, is wonderful.

There was a lot of excitement around our performance. The church was full to bursting, many people had came back after last year, a number had come from far away, and all were predisposed to be happy with the concert. It seemed that they weren't disappointed and said they'd like us to come back every year. Since we're not touring in Europe in the summer again until 2011 we'll all just have to wait. We'll be more than happy to come back!

Waiting for our entrance through the sacristy door.

July: A day off in the Haut Savoie

This the Hotel du Parc in Faverges - the former home of a local aristocrat - huge rooms full of old things and views. Lucky us, we have a day off here! And, finally, it feels like summer... Not to mention the breakfast at the hotel - little omelettes, cafe au lait, perfect croisssants with over the top delicious apricot jam made from the apricot tree in the yard ( beside the badminton court.). Gabe - who makes jam - enquired about the technique for making it. Perhaps it was the grandmother's secret recipe, perhaps it is all in the wrist - mais non - it's a machine readily available in France. The quality of the fruit no doubt has a lot to do with it.

The Bauges mountains surround the town.

Some local products were purchased and consumed during the day...
