Christmas: Long Island

A new ( to us) hall and a new audience- the Tilles Center at C.W. Post College of Long Island University, which fit in nicely between our performances at the Met Museum in Manhattan. Feels as if snow isn't far away.

There are only three concert halls - as opposed to churches, museums or missions - on the Christmas tour. It's up to us to bring the Christmas atmosphere on to the stage - and figure out how to stage our opening procession.

If it's Christmas it must be the Biebl Ave Maria. Regular Chanticleer Christmas-goers will recognize the formation.

Lots of enthusiastic folks at the record table.

  1. Official non-obsequious fan e-mail: I rarely missed a Chanticleer holiday program, in SF or the East Bay, from the minute I heard the fellas for the first time during rehearsals for the Robert Shaw Festival of Masses, and in the Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys, until moving from the Bay Area in 2003. I had my CDs to keep me warm, but let's face it, they cannot compare with the real deal. Now huddled in Northern Ca, I snagged a ticket to the Petaluma 6pm show, one of only two remaining seats in the orchestra. Hot choral tip: via Minnesota Public Radio, this afternoon's St Olaf's Christmas Festival included "Noel" by Todd Smith, arr by Brad Holmes, a real breathtaker.
See you on the 19th, cash in hand for the new CD.
